POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Controller will oversee all accounting functions, including accounting, billing, payables and collections, ensuring compliance with GAAP and accuracy and efficiency across systems and teams. This onsite role involves leading a team of accountants and analysts, managing operational workflows, collaborating with key departments to maintain compliance and meet organizational goals, and partnering with leadership on financial strategy.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following :
- Oversee accounting department operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash disbursements, collections, & fixed assets.
- Lead month-end-close processes, ensuring timely and accurate preparation of monthly financial reports in accordance with GAAP.
- Ensure accurate & timely preparation, review and distribution of invoices to customers and payments to vendors.
- Collaborate with Sales & Operations teams to resolve billing issues and respond to customer inquires.
- Manage tax filings and compliance, including sales tax, 1099s, and business personal property tax. Coordinate with external accounting firms in preparation of supporting schedules and review of state / federal returns.
- Collaborate with external auditors by preparing supporting documentation and reconciliations to facilitate timely audits.
- Review cash projections and monitor incoming / outgoing cash.
- Manage, mentor, and develop finance team members to build a strong finance function.
- Develop, implement, and enhance accounting policies, internal controls, and process documentation, including SOPs & training materials.
- Lead process improvement and automation initiatives within the department.
- Communicate financial data effectively to the VP of Finance and leadership team.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, CPA preferred.At least 3 - 7 years of overall accounting experience with a mix of public accounting and industry experience preferred.Hands -on experience managing the month-end close process & strong understanding of billing processes, accounting principles, and financial systemsSkilled communicator with the ability to build cross-functional relationships and to lead and motivate a team.Strategic mindset with a high degree of integrity, organization, and problem-solving capability.Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook) and experience with billing software and ERP systems (Microsoft Business Central).Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
