American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with at least 2 years of critical care experience, active AZ or compact RN license, and strong EKG skills for night shifts.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in an acute care ICU setting under the Critical Care service line, including CVICU, COVID, MS ICU, and PCUNurse to patient ratios are 1 : 1-2 in ICU based on acuity, and 1 : 3-4 in PCUProvides care for complex patients including post-surgical, cardiac, neuro, sepsis, CRRT, IABP, Impella, and STEMI casesTravelers may float to PCU and MST, and participate in float rotation with core staffNight shift position with 12-hour shifts and at least two weekend shifts per pay periodEMR system : Cerner experience preferredAll critical care drips and titration required including pressors, paralytics, sedation, anti-arrhythmics, and heparinSchedule is created 4 weeks in advance with some self-scheduling; block scheduling not typically allowedMay be placed on call for low census situations; not a scheduled requirementCare for a diverse patient population including COVID, neuro, cardiac, post-op, and complex medical casesTravelers may care for fresh open-heart patients if skilled and credential check-off completedRNs are expected to read and monitor cardiac strips using Nihon Khoden tele monitorsIntensivists are present in-house 24 / 7 with NP support; no nurse aids on the unitTeam includes two charge nurses for ICUs and PCU, as well as a 24 / 7 house supervisor with some exceptionsProfessional scrubs in any color allowed; no camo; Navy scrubs required starting in OctoberGeneral and unit-specific orientation provided, with a preceptor and buddy system for initial shiftsMust provide two references : one supervisor from past 12 months and one peer or supervisor from past 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibilityMust submit a copy of driver's license at time of considerationHoliday coverage required including one winter holiday and the eve of another; will not be scheduled for all holidaysFirst-time travelers are welcome to apply\n \n Requirements\n
Active AZ or compact state RN license required at time of considerationMinimum 2 years of recent ICU experience in a similar settingCurrent BLS and ACLS certifications requiredMust have strong EKG reading skills and the ability to interpret ABGsExperience with ventilator management and troubleshooting requiredPrefer experience with IABP, Prismaflex CRRT, and critical care devices such as Impella, TAVR, and VADAbility to float between ICU, PCU, and MST units as neededMust pass dysrhythmia (Relias) exam with 80% minimum prior to offer, within two attemptsMust not have been employed in any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility in the past yearMust reside at least 50 miles from the facility\n Benefits\n
