Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide on-site construction oversight for the transmission and substation portfolio of construction
projects and serves as the lead owner representative on projects throughout all phases of
construction
Leads, guides and directs construction activities to ensure projects are properly constructedServes as a mentor or coach to staff across the organization and provides construction technicalsupport for all transmission and substation projects
Provide construction management services to ensure key milestones are met and coordinatedwith other departments
Develop and report on construction schedulesSupport specification and documentation of company design standards and material standards basedon construction observations
Review transmission and substation designs throughout the design phase and prior toconstruction to provide construction feasibility feedback and be familiar with the project design,
specification, material, and outage requirements
Support department engineers and project managers in project scope and schedule developmentAssists the project manager in providing input to contract bid proposals and bid evaluationsProvides input regarding modifications, change orders and other impacts on projects andcoordinates with the project manager to revise scope, schedule and budget as necessary
Ensure contract compliance with company specifications, standards, and industry practicesEnsure membership’s fiduciary interests are maintained through effective contractmanagement during all construction activities
Ensure safe working practices and environment is adhered to on the construction siteEnsure construction activities are fully complete when invoiced by construction contractorEnsure environmental and permitting requirements are implemented per the specificationServe as Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan Inspector for specific projectsProvide weekly construction reports and status to all interested partiesCoordinate construction activities with other departments to ensure construction timelinesare maintained
Verify accuracy of drawing markups and as-builts; hang hard copy control house drawing set andcoordinate loading of electronic files in the drawing database.
Notify company engineering department when projects will not meet contracted schedule; suggest constructionoptions to recover project schedule
Reject construction activities and materials that do not meet company standards, specifications, anddesigns
Conduct pre-construction meetings and safety tailboards as requiredCoordinate with other departments as necessary for completion of the projectsReceive, inventory, inspect, and / or reject material delivered directly to jobsitesReport material received and construction units completed for invoicing and inventoryCoordinate issuing of material to contractor from company WarehouseCoordinate outages and / or mobile transformers as necessary for projectsKnowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of using computer systems, which may include setting up and using hardware andsoftware programs, entering data or processing information
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer serviceKnowledge of construction standards and industry best practicesKnowledge of project management methods and conceptsKnowledge of budgeting and cost managementKnowledge of engineering principlesKnowledge of assembly and installation of electrical and mechanical equipment, including highvoltage equipment

Bachelor’s Degree in related field ORTwelve years of job-related experienceDirectly related experience may substitute for educationValid Texas Driver’s LicensePhysical Demands and Work Environment
The employee may be required to stand; reach with hands and arms, stoop and kneelThe employee may be required to sit or stand for long periods of timeThe employee may be required to lift, carry, push, pull or move up to 25 poundsThe employee may be required to travelExempt employees receive a fixed bi-weekly salary to compensate them for all hours workedduring each pay period
