Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A rewarding opportunity is available for a Special Education Teacher specializing in K-5 life skills and severe or multiple cognitive disabilities. This contract position runs from August 25, 2025, through June 10, 2026, in an elementary school setting located in Brewer, ME. The role is designed for passionate educators seeking to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students with unique learning needs.

Responsibilities include developing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) for a caseload of 12 students, with a focus on life skills and cognitive development. The teacher will collaborate closely with seven educational technicians (paras) to support classroom instruction and create an inclusive, supportive learning environment from 8 : 15 AM to 3 : 30 PM daily.

Qualified candidates must hold Maine Certification 282 or possess an out-of-state reciprocal equivalent. Experience working with students who have severe or multiple disabilities is essential, as well as the ability to manage and coordinate support staff effectively.

Key Qualifications :
