Exercise Specialist II
Position Summary
The role of the Exercise Specialist II is to improve the wellness Client's cardiovascular, muscular strength, endurance, and flexibility fitness without exceeding safe exercise limits, Educate the wellness client in the field of total health and nutrition for life, Advocate independence in the client, Promote confidence in the client's ability to achieve personal fitness and wellness goals.
Education
Bachelors of Science - Required
Experience
1 Year Clinical - Required
Six month's experience in exercise related field -Required ((Internships accepted)
License & Certification
A minimum of one specialized certification -ACSM, CSCS, SFA, AFAA or other approved certification - Preferred
Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required in 90 days from hire date
Core Job Functions
- Equipment is cleaned, calibrated and locker rooms maintained to ensure safety for all patients utilizing facility.
- Exercise prescription is developed, adjusted, and documented based on fitness test and recommendations from physician. Exercise plan and education are tailored to individual needs of the client and family. Explanation of expected and actual physiological response to exercise is provided and accurately recorded on appropriate forms.
- Educates patients and their families on interventions aimed at restoring functional capacity and effecting favorable modifications of coronary heart disease risk factors and respiratory disease.
- Works with the client to identify mutually acceptable goals. The goals reflect information obtained through the assessment process. Goals should be specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and timely.
- Patient's blood pressure, heart rate, and physical status are monitored for abnormal responses and documented. Exercise plan is tailored to the individual needs of the patient and family; assessment, response to exercise, and resolution of goals are documented; progress notes completed and sent to physicians.
