Faith and Family Hospice is currently seeking to add a part-time Music Therapist to our team due to our increasing census!
Primary Function : The Music Therapist (MT) plans, organizes and directs medically prescribed music therapy interventions as part of the psychosocial and physical treatment of patients and their families as part of the hospice plan of care. The MT also provides continued evaluation, documentation, and communication with the interdisciplinary team.
Job Responsibilities :
- Completes the music therapy assessment for patients and / or families.
- Provides individualized music therapy consultations and services to the patient and / or family concerning their physical, emotional, cognitive, spiritual, and social functioning, musical responsivity, and to determine overall needs.
- Develops goals and objectives for patients' individualized music therapy treatment plan of care.
- Uses creative activities for the purpose of improving or maintaining mental and physical function and quality of life for patients and families.
- Communicates observations to the IDG team and when appropriate, suggest how to use supportive music to staff, caregivers, family members, etc.
- Supports the business development activities of the organization by providing in-services as delegated by management.
- Determines when termination of music therapy services is appropriate.
Reporting Relationship : The Music Therapist reports to the Director of Clinical Services
Position Qualifications
Music Therapist Board Certification required preferredAppropriate bachelor's degreeA minimum of two years experience in healthcare preferably in hospice care systems.Hospice and Palliative Care Music Therapist (HPMT) preferred
