About The Position

Job Title : Registered Nurse - Emergency Room

Certifications : BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS

Must-Have : Cerner experience required; No first-time travelers

Description :

Unit sees approximately 270-320 visits per day, and on busy days, up to 350.

The unit consists of 62 beds plus hallway beds / chairs.

Ratios are 1 to 4.

Charge nurses are available on both shifts but do not take patients unless absolutely necessary.

There are approximately 3 ER techs per shift to perform EKGs and vital signs.

Weekend requirement is every other weekend.

Holidays require working 2 out of 3 major holidays.

Scrub color is navy blue.

Telemetry experience is necessary; staff must read and interpret telemetry.

There are no telemetry technicians available.

Ventilated patients may be held while awaiting respiratory therapist management.

Respiratory therapy and pharmacy services are available 24 / 7.

There is no on-call requirement for nurses.

Shifts include 7a, 9a, 11a, 3p, and 7p, all 12-hour shifts.

Staff will float as needed.

Floor-specific orientation is up to 2 shifts.

Common diagnoses and patient types include pediatric patients up to 12 years old, critical care, CVA, STEMI, sepsis, and ICU admissions.

The unit has a large amount of paramedic and nursing students that rotate through, as well as student nurse externs.

There are triage nurses available around the clock during peak times.

Hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment.
