Overview

Tesla is seeking a seasoned MEP Engineer to support the Infrastructure team at Giga Texas. This role requires 7–10 years of experience in designing, optimizing, and managing mechanical systems for industrial greenfield and brownfield projects.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Basis of Design (BOD) documents based on process requirements.
  • Design and review HVAC (dry and hydronic), plumbing, and fire protection systems.
  • Interface with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) for code compliance.
  • Conduct site inspections and quality checks.
  • Apply ASHRAE, NFPA, ICC, ASME, and other standards in system design and energy calculations.
  • Prepare engineering drawings, specifications, layouts, and calculations.
  • Lead equipment procurement from RFP to commissioning.
  • Ensure cross-discipline coordination of MEP systems.
  • Provide field engineering support during installation and commissioning.
  • Review submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings for compliance.
  • Collaborate with architects, consultants, and subcontractors to resolve technical issues.
  • Support value engineering and constructability reviews.
  • Maintain documentation for compliance, system selection, and field modifications.
  • Develop Sequence of Operations (SOO) and commissioning documentation; validate system performance during startup.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • 5+ years of experience in MEP engineering.
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, ACC, BIM, Carrier HAP, Trane Trace 700, Revizto, and Navisworks.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical design principles.
  • In-depth knowledge of ASHRAE and other applicable codes.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
