The RN will provide comprehensive care to antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patients, including newborns, while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. This role requires flexibility, strong clinical skills, and the ability to float to the OR to assist in deliveries as needed. Assignment Details Start Date : ASAP Shift : Days, 7 : 00 AM start Schedule : 4x12s (48 hours per week) Requirements : Must be willing to work weekends and holidays as needed Key Responsibilities Provide accurate interpretation and documentation of fetal monitor tracings. Deliver quality care with thorough assessment, interventions, and documentation for low- to high-risk obstetrical patients in antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum stages. Provide newborn care at delivery. Deliver preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care for obstetrical patients. Conduct medical screenings in the OB Observation Area (L&D Triage) and determine stage of labor. Facilitate admissions and discharges from the L&D unit and observation area. Educate patients and families on the labor and delivery process, adapting to age-specific needs. Qualifications Education : Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN or MSN preferred. Completion of 20 hours of breastfeeding and lactation training within 6 months of hire. Advanced certifications such as Inpatient Obstetric Nursing (RNC-OB), Electronic Fetal Monitoring (RNC-EFM), and STABLE Program are strongly encouraged. Experience : Minimum of 2 years recent clinical experience in Labor & Delivery. At least 1 year of travel nurse experience required. Licensure & Certifications : Current California RN license. Current BLS, ACLS, NRP, and NIHSS certifications required. Basic Fetal Monitoring certification required prior to orientation (Advanced Fetal Monitoring within 2 years). Skills & Abilities Strong critical thinking and assessment skills in obstetric settings. Ability to manage high-stress, emotionally charged, and fast-paced clinical situations. Effective communication with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members. Willingness to float to OR to support deliveries as needed. Physical Requirements & Working Conditions Frequent walking, standing, bending, and reaching. Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 25 lbs frequently, and assist with patient transfers requiring exertion over 50 lbs occasionally. Exposure to stressful situations, infectious materials, and physical strain common to clinical settings.
