Meriden, CT client is seeking a Fabrication Technician for an onsite, contract-to-hire role.

The Fabrication Technician will execute work orders to process and fabricate germanium and silicon-based crystals into functional radiation detection diodes. Responsibilities include handling acids and other chemicals, and maintaining evaporators, sputtering machines, and other systems.

Contract Duration : 6 Months

Required Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrated vacuum deposition experience.
  • Demonstrated ion implanter operation experience.
  • Demonstrated vacuum equipment maintenance experience.
  • Mastery of detector fabrication related chemical processing.
  • Ability to handle chemicals per safety standards.
  • Attention to detail with small workpieces.
  • Surface inspection experience, including microscope usage.
  • Record-keeping and execution of work orders.
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Final surface preparation of germanium and silicon crystals.
  • Operate ion implanter and vacuum deposition equipment.
  • Perform equipment maintenance and test finished crystals.
  • Troubleshoot process issues.
  • Train junior technicians as needed.
  • Assist with inventory audits and maintain clean work areas.
