Position Overview

We’re seeking an experienced and customer-focused Lead HVAC Service Technician to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone who is confident working with both commercial and residential HVAC equipment, thrives in the field, and takes pride in problem-solving and delivering great service.

The Lead Service HVAC Service Technician will be responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of systems while building trust with customers, promoting ongoing preventative maintenance programs, and mentoring more junior techs.

Key Responsibilities

Perform advanced diagnostics and repairs on residential and commercial systems

Complete startup and commissioning for newly installed

Perform preventative maintenance on a wide range of HVAC systems

Maintain clear, accurate service records, checklists, and commissioning documentation

Collaborate with PMs and install teams to ensure smooth handoffs from install to service

Communicate professionally with customers

Identify opportunities for system upgrades and maintenance agreements

Generate quotes for service calls and larger repairs using standardized pricing tools, coordinating with the Service Coordinator for follow-up and scheduling

Mentor and support junior technicians during service calls and training sessions

Provide input on service workflows, tools, and ongoing technician training needs

Participate in on-call rotation and respond to emergency service requests

Qualifications

6-8 years of experience in residential and / or commercial HVAC service

Strong diagnostic and repair skills with a variety of HVAC systems (Lennox, Trane, etc.)

Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues clearly

Proven ability to identify and sell-in maintenance agreements

EPA 608 certification (Type II or Universal)

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

Must be able to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, and work in crawl spaces or rooftop

Familiarity with ServiceTitan or similar field service management software (preferred)

Oregon LEA or LEB license (preferred)

NATE certification or trade school completion (preferred)

Compensation & Benefits

$35-$42 per hour, depending on experience, plus monthly performance bonuses (SPIFF) tied to install referrals
