LEHIGH UNIVERSITY. The Department of Community and Global Health in the College of Health invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor faculty position with a specialization in health communication and / or health literacy with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2026.
Candidates must have earned a doctorate in health communication, health literacy, risk communication, science communication, health promotion and / or education, community health, public health, social and / or behavioral sciences, or a closely related field by the date of employment. Candidates must demonstrate a willingness to work in an interdisciplinary environment and engage with communities.
The individual hired will be expected to teach courses in community and global health, as well as courses related to their specialization in health communication and / or health literacy at both undergraduate and graduate levels. There are opportunities to teach classes in health promotion and education, community and / or global health, and qualitative and mixed-methods research, depending on the candidate's specialization. In addition to teaching, the individual hired will be expected to mentor students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, engage in scholarly activities, and participate in departmental, college, and university service. We encourage applications from individuals who employ quantitative, qualitative, or mixed-methods approaches to conduct community-focused health equity research.
The Department of Community and Global Health (CGH) in the College of Health (COH) has an interdisciplinary faculty, innovative curriculum, robust experiential learning opportunities for students, and integrated career and professional development. CGH offers the Community and Global Health major, as well as minors in Community Health, Global Health, Indigenous Peoples’ Health, and LGBTQ+ Health.
The mission of the COH, the newest of five colleges at Lehigh University, is to understand, preserve, and improve the health and well-being of domestic and global populations and communities with community-focused and data-driven research and education. The COH offers undergraduate majors in Community and Global Health (BA), Health, Medicine, and Society (BA), Population Health (BS), Biostatistics / Health Data Science (BS), and Integrated Business and Health (BS), as well as a Master of Public Health (MPH) and PhD in Population Health. As our faculty grows, the COH will add a suite of graduate degrees in Health Data Science (certificate, MS, PhD), and more.
