CMA / LPN Family & Specialty Practice Float (PRN)
Under the general direction of the Executive Director of the Physician Practices and in collaboration with the Provider, CNO, or Physician Practice Nurse, the LPN Family & Specialty Practice Float Staff Nurse will provide direct and indirect patient care in an office setting. The role assists in various clinical areas to meet fluctuating staffing needs during periods of increased workload, staffing shortages, and long-term absences (illness, holidays, maternity leave, etc.), thereby reducing overtime for regularly scheduled staff. The incumbent may begin a shift in one practice and subsequently be transferred to another to meet operational requirements. They will communicate with medical staff, other departments, and outside agencies while maintaining confidentiality in accordance with TJC, federal, state, and local guidelines, and organizational policies and procedures. The position requires self-motivation, creativity, and the ability to function in a semi-autonomous role within a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Standards of Performance
- Conduct transport of patients to the exam room and prepare the room and patient for examination.
- Takes vital signs and records vitals in the chart.
- Assists the Provider with the care and treatment of patients.
- Obtains specimens via phlebotomy process and urine specimens by policy / procedure.
- Administers medications according to established policies and procedures as directed by the Physician or mid-level practitioner.
- Store / handle / transfer vaccines correctly in accordance with facility policy / procedure and by state, federal, and governing regulations.
- Administers treatments, labs, etc., as directed by a Physician or mid-level practitioner.
- Participates in patient education involving the patient's family when appropriate.
- Completes the nursing portion of the patient charts in an organized, neat, complete, and accurate manner.
- Identifies physical symptoms and physical changes and reports to the Physician.
- Observes and responds to behavioral and physiological changes due to medications.
- Performs pre-certifications for services requiring authorizations.
- Prepares patients for ordered procedures : lab, X-ray, surgery, treatment, etc., and completes forms or ordered procedures.
- Administers IV fluids according to center policy.
- Returns call to patients.
- Calls in prescriptions for patients as required.
- Reviews home care with patients.
- Communicates with other agencies, physicians, facilities, and pharmacies when appropriate and as directed by the physician.
- Ensures adherence to proper infection control, OSHA, and safety standards.
- Provide at least four (4) shifts (8 am to 5 pm) coverages per calendar month.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Requirements
Minimum Level of Education : High school completion and completion of Licensed Practical Nurse Training course or Registered Nurse.Formal Training : Management skills with experience in planning, organizing, implementing, facilitating, interviewing, counseling, and verbal and written communications.Licensure, Certification, Registration : Must have and maintain an unencumbered current Georgia Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse license, or Medical Assistant Certification, and Basic Life Support CPR certification.Work Experience : Six months to one year related experience and / or training.J-18808-Ljbffr
