The New York Plastic Surgical Group is seeking a Full-Time Registered Nurse for the PACU.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO PERFORMING THE FOLLOWING ACTIVITIES :

  • Reviews preoperative notes and orders; assuring clearance and ordered lab results in the patient record
  • Making pre-operative and post-operative phone calls as per protocol
  • Alerts OR Charge Nurse and / or surgeon as to any issues with the patient's pre-op results
  • Performs a pre-operative assessment of the patient, reviewing doctor's pre-op orders, and assuring patient medical history is documented
  • Assesses and documents patient status immediately upon arrival into the recovery room
  • Performs safe and individualized nursing care for the patient in the immediate post operative / post-anesthesia period
  • Confirms that proper techniques and procedures are used according to accepted standards of practice
  • Reviews post operative instructions and prescriptions from the surgeon with patient and significant other, documenting in the medical record
  • Assists in managing inventory of supplies, drugs and equipment to maintain availability and stock levels in the postoperative area

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS :

  • Current NYS RN licensure required
  • Bachelors degree preferred
  • BLS certification required
  • ACLS certification required
  • Training in plastic surgery nursing preferred
  • Understanding of AORN, ASPSN, ASA and OSHA guidelines required
  • QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE :

  • Experience in the OR or PACU setting
  • Understanding of ASPAN, ASPSN, ASA and AORN standards; OSHA guidelines for ambulatory practice, quality assurance required.
  • Familiarity with cosmetic procedures preferred
  • Must be experienced in PACU / OR and used to working in a high pressure environment.
  • Compensation : $50.00-55.00
