Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager
Vernon, CA | Full-Time | Onsite | $110,000–$130,000 DOE
An established and growing company in the food manufacturing industry is seeking an experienced Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to lead safety operations at its newly opened Vernon facility. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on professional who thrives in a start-up style environment and enjoys building safety programs, systems, and compliance frameworks from the ground up.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing safety , be bilingual in English and Spanish , and have a proactive approach to implementing and sustaining a culture of safety excellence across the plant.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments, identifying hazards and implementing corrective actions.
Lead and facilitate employee safety training, incident investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Oversee environmental compliance programs, including waste management, air quality, and wastewater handling.
Partner closely with plant and operations leadership to integrate safety into daily operations and drive accountability.
Maintain all required records, documentation, and reporting for internal and external stakeholders. Serve as the main point of contact for all EHS matters and external agency communication.
Participate in emergency response planning and ensure preparedness for potential plant incidents.
Qualifications
5–7+ years of EHS experience within a manufacturing environment (food manufacturing experience preferred).
Bilingual in English and Spanish is required due to the workforce composition.
Strong working knowledge of OSHA and Cal / OSHA regulations , i
Proven ability to develop, implement, and manage safety programs independently.
Experience with environmental programs such as wastewater and hazardous waste management a plus.
OSHA 30 or equivalent certification preferred.
Excellent communication, leadership, and documentation skills.
Comfortable in a fast-paced, evolving environment where structure is being built.
