Responsibilities
- Working with minimal supervision, support the Store Manager in all facets of store operations.
- Develop and promote a sales culture by creating individualized and complete solutions for every guest and providing outstanding guest service experiences through professional conduct and shared passion for gaming.
- Ensure products are easy to see and buy; build sales by sharing product and gaming knowledge with guests; maintain a clean, organized store environment; grow guest loyalty and repeat business.
- Supervise Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Provide best-in-class guest service : greet guests, respond to questions / concerns promptly and courteously, inform guests of promotions, recommend items, and acknowledge guests during every transaction.
- Process guest purchases / returns using the POS system accurately and efficiently.
- Respond to guest comments or questions in person or on the phone; escalate issues to the Store Manager when appropriate.
- Promote GameStop guest benefits (e.g., new title reservations, trade-in program, Pro Rewards).
- Assist the Store Manager with training and setting guest service expectations for store associates.
- Provide feedback to the Store Manager regarding associate performance; document feedback in the HR system as required.
- Ensure onboarding, training, and compliance training are completed prior to opening / closing shifts; know policies, inventory control, loss prevention, safety, and ethical responsibilities.
- Schedule store associates to follow guidelines; manage staffing to ensure excellent guest service.
- Approve payroll, manage paid time off, and verify compensation for time worked.
- Ensure store areas are clean, organized, and merchandised per guidelines; ensure equipment is in working order.
- Fulfill Omni-Channel orders daily.
- Protect assets through inventory control and loss prevention; conduct safety checks and report concerns to the Store Manager.
- Support sales, profit, and shrink goals and complete required administrative duties.
- Participate in inventory counts, stock restocking, and ensure products are represented and organized on the sales floor.
- Count, balance, and reconcile daily transaction totals; manage cash deposits as required.
- Verify shipments, record discrepancies, and conduct inventories; communicate issues to Store / District Manager.
- Process defectives / recalls and stock pulls with proper labeling and packing lists.
- Maintain associate and guest safety; report injuries per guidelines.
- Maintain store records / files; ensure manuals are up to date.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in absence of the Store Manager.
- Adhere to GameStop policies and procedures, including the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.
- Adhere to opening and closing procedures.
Qualifications
Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.Must be at least 18 years old.High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and / or management experience preferred.Video game knowledge preferred.Key Job Skills and Abilities
Outgoing, welcoming personality with strong people skills.Provide genuine and individualized assistance to every guest during every visit.Clear verbal and written communication skills; bilingual English / Spanish preferred.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; work independently and in a team.Meet performance expectations, including attendance, appearance, safety, and respectful workplace.Operate POS system; basic mathematics and alphabetizing skills.Complete required paperwork properly; follow written or diagrammed instructions.Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and some holidays (min 3 days / week).Ability to manage pressure and adapt to stressful situations; be creative and a problem solver.Reliable, trustworthy, and able to work alone; stand / move for extended periods; lift up to 30 lbs and perform physical tasks.Onboarding : understand military ranks / insignia (for stores on military bases).Job descriptions are subject to change.
