Job Description
We are a thriving, long-standing otolaryngology (ENT) practice located in Springfield, MA. As the largest private ENT provider in Western Massachusetts, we provide essential care to a broad range of geographic areas and patients. In addition to our existing stellar clinical and administrative teams, we are seeking a Physician Assistant to complement our staff to continue providing high quality patient care in a positive environment for providers, patients, and employees alike.
The successful Physician Assistant will be an essential member of the clinical team, along with six physicians, four physician assistants, and full-service audiology and allergy teams.
The position is on-site, with 8 - 10 clinical sessions per week. Our primary office is in Springfield, MA, with a satellite location in Northampton. The clinic schedule includes four days per week at the Springfield location and one day per week at the Northampton location.
Essential Functions
- The Physician Assistant maintains the standards of professional practice, and demonstrates competence for patient care through continuous assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care and education
- The PA is responsible for providing medical care as delegated by the physicians, and may see patient's incident-to practice MDs, or maintain his / her own panel
- Acquires and reviews patient histories and test results, identifying abnormal conditions or positive results
- Monitors patients’ progress, keeps and maintains appropriate records relating to all professional services rendered by him / her or the supervising physician, including surgical care
- Performs patient care both in the office and inpatient setting which includes seeing consults and rounding on postoperative patients
- They assess patient health, and prescribes and administers medications as needed
- Complies with ear, nose and throat medical care protocols as established by the physicians
- In connection with such services, prepares in a timely manner all billings, reports, claims, and correspondence in the form and manner required by the practice and its physicians’ organization
- Cultivates trust with and compassion for patients
- Provides eight to ten clinical care sessions per week of direct, face-to-face patient care, with potential for telehealth visits. A care session is defined as 4 hours of on-site availability for direct patient care
- Works collaboratively and respectfully with all staff, peers, and departments
Qualifications / Skills
PA degree from an accredited programLicensed and currently registered as Physician Assistant MassachusettsProven work experience as a PA, or willingness to be trained in the ENT specialty (will accept new grads)Knowledgeable in current medical guidelines and technologyExcellent bedside manner with the ability to establish patient rapportStrong written and verbal communication skills to effectively explain diagnoses, treatments, and preventive measures to patientsPrior use of electronic medical record system(s)Organized and detail-oriented; team playerInterested candidates should submit a resume for consideration.
