Responsibilities Work in a large, 39-bed ICU divided into pods for medical, surgical, cardiac, trauma, and neuro patient care Treat a wide range of patients including trauma, medical, surgical, cardiac, neuro, and complex critical care cases ICU patient diagnoses include ARDS, MI, CVA / TIA, COVID, post-cardiac cath and surgery, and multi-system trauma Cardiac cases may include CABG / TAVR post-op (preferred but not required) Typical patient ratios are 1 : 1 or 1 : 2, rarely up to 1 : 3 based on acuity 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend rotation Floating is rare but may include MedSurg / Tele units with a 1 : 4 patient ratio Epic is the primary charting system required for ICU staff Transition from Alaris to Baxter pumps is planned by October No on-call duties required in this position Provide advanced care for critically ill patients including trauma, cardiac, neuro, and complex cases Support team includes charge nurses, nurse aides, a mobility aide, resource nurse, 24 / 7 RT, and intensivist coverage ICU RNs may be qualified to float to ED if needed Comprehensive orientation includes hospital and unit-based training Navy scrubs are required Free parking provided on-site Up to 7 days of time off may be approved, but no time off is allowed during holidays or the Sturgis Bike Rally in early August No local travelers accepted based on a 100-mile radius rule Requirements Active RN license in South Dakota or compact state eligibility Completion of an approved nursing education program BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and TNCC certifications required (must be obtained prior to start if not already held) Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience as an RN, excluding travel experience; consideration for 1.5 years with substantial RN experience outside ICU At least one prior travel nursing assignment required; first-time travelers will not be considered Epic charting experience required Experience with vasopressors, sedation, paralytics, hemodynamic lines, proning, ventilators, telemetry, and rapid emergency interventions Impella, IABP, CRRT experience strongly preferred Applicant must reside at least 100 miles from any Monument Health facility Permanent staff must wait one year before returning as travelers Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-605099.
