Position : Reliability Engineer - Data Driven Operations

Employment Type : Contract

FOCUSPOINT's client is seeking a Reliability Engineer with a strong foundation in data analytics to transform operational data into actionable strategies that enhance safety, reliability, and performance across company assets. This role bridges engineering expertise with real-time data insights, supporting proactive risk mitigation and cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities :

Data Monitoring & Analysis

  • Continuously monitor dashboards, alerts, and reports from systems such as PI (OSIsoft), SAP, PCMS, GOARC, and wireless sensor networks.
  • Identify anomalies, deviations, and emerging trends using historical and live data streams.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis and validate findings with SMEs and operational teams.
  • Escalate critical risks through structured workflows to ensure timely resolution.

Risk Identification & Communication

  • Surface risks related to asset integrity, process safety, and operational efficiency.
  • Develop intuitive dashboards and visualizations for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborate on alert logic and KPI development for predictive maintenance and decision support.
  • Partner with data engineers to enhance data quality, accessibility, and system integration.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Engage with reliability, maintenance, operations, and process engineering teams to contextualize insights.
  • Document findings and translate analytics into actionable engineering recommendations.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and reliability-centered maintenance strategies.
  • Success Metrics

  • Reduction in unplanned downtime and process safety incidents.
  • Increased accuracy and speed of anomaly detection.
  • Improved stakeholder engagement and data-driven decision-making.
  • Optional : Drone Program Support

  • Conduct remote visual inspections using drones for asset monitoring and safety assessments.
  • Leverage drone data to complement traditional inspection workflows.
  • Required Qualifications :

  • Education : Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Data Analytics focus).
  • Technical Skills :
  • Proficiency in PI System (OSIsoft), SAP, PCMS, and wireless sensor platforms.

  • Strong command of Power BI, Excel, and basic scripting (SQL / Python a plus).
  • Familiarity with collaboration platforms (Teams, ServiceNow).
  • Analytical Acumen :
  • Ability to interpret complex datasets and translate findings into operational strategy.

  • Skilled in root-cause analysis, reliability modeling, and performance benchmarking.
  • Communication :
  • Clear, concise communicator with ability to engage technical and business stakeholders.

  • Certifications :
  • FAA Part 107 drone license is a plus.
