Job Description
The Department of Athletics and Recreation at Bridgewater State University is seeking an Assistant Coach for the track and field team. The assistant coach will plan practices to teach, encourage, and develop student-athlete skills and game techniques within the throwing events.
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree or three-four years of recent collegiate coaching and / or playing experience. They will also have strong interpersonal skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences.
The assistant coach will be responsible for coaching track and field team members individually and in groups, demonstrating appropriate game techniques within the throwing events, and planning and directing team practices to encourage and develop student-athlete skills and game techniques.
Other responsibilities will include developing and recommending strategy, teaching theoretical skills and position assignments, coordinating year-round instruction with players in accordance with University, Conference, and NCAA bylaws and regulations, and monitoring and overseeing the academic development of track and field student-athletes.
The ideal candidate will have previous coaching experience at the High School or Collegiate level, a valid U.S. driver's license, and current certification in First Aid / CPR (AED).
