Assistant Professor - Agricultural Communications Department of Agricultural Education, Communications and Leadership Division of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources Oklahoma State University – Stillwater Campus POSITION DESCRIPTION This is an eleven-month, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor funded by the Ferguson College of Agriculture (60%) and OSU Ag Research (40%). The successful candidate for this position is expected to provide leadership in the teaching of undergraduate and graduate courses in agricultural communications. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a research program related to science communications. The preferred start date is July 1, 2026. This faculty member will (a) teach undergraduate and graduate courses in agricultural communications; (b) develop a research program related to science communications; (c) recruit and mentor undergraduate and graduate students; (d) contribute to the scholarship of the profession through innovative teaching approaches, research, curriculum development, external grants / contracts, and other forms of scholarly effort; and (e) conduct appropriate service activities on and off campus. QUALIFICATIONS The successful candidate must have an earned doctorate in agricultural communications, mass communications, journalism, science communications, agricultural education or a closely related discipline. It is preferred candidates have professional experience in agricultural communications or a related area. Applicants should demonstrate excellence in teaching and research. ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT The department’s undergraduate programs are organized into three majors : agricultural education, agricultural communications, and agricultural leadership. Graduate degrees offered include the Master of Agriculture in Agricultural Leadership, Master of Science in Agricultural Education and Leadership, Master of Science in Agricultural Communications, and Doctor of Philosophy in Agricultural Education, Communications and Leadership (AECL). More than 500 students are enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs in the department. AECL is one of nine academic departments within the Ferguson College of Agriculture. Faculty and staff in the Ferguson College of Agriculture recently moved into a new building, which prioritizes experiential teaching, student engagement, flexible research, and a strong sense of community through strategically designed spaces. The agricultural communications program enjoys a state-of-the-art, modern computer lab in the new building designed to maximize learning and foster teamwork across all areas of the curriculum.
