COURT ADMINISTRATOR

Court Administrator

Responsible for the administration of judicial support. Carries out any and all executive and administrative duties. Directs day-to-day operations, performance and management, hiring, disciplinary actions, and implementing court policies adopted by the Judge.

Essential Job Functions :

• Prepares the monthly report for the Office of Court Administration and Texas DPS Conviction Report.
• Accountable for the quality and quantity of work performed by subordinates and assures the accomplishment in the prescribed manner.
• Maintains comprehensive files, records, documents, and plans related to the operations and performance of the department.
• Performs independent work assignments for the Municipal Judge under broad guidelines with minimum direction that are of a complex nature.
• Must have the ability to prepare court orders.
• Keep and maintain a docket containing each case filed and court action taken.
• File a certified transcript of the docket with the district court on the first day of that court's term.
• Enter the proceedings of each trial in the judge's docket.
• Prepare the court's budget for submission to the City Manager or city council.
• Process (subpoenas, summonses, warrants, and attachments) to compel the attendance of persons as witnesses in municipal court.
• Authenticate all official acts of the court by affixing the court seal to all papers issued by the court except subpoenas.
• Handles all incoming / outgoing correspondence / memos.
• Handles public information request.
• Prepares and presents comprehensive reports to the City Council to support informed decision-making.
• Maintain regular and prompt attendance; physically present to work.
• Perform after-hour work as required (nights & weekends) and assist with emergency response as needed by city hall and local EOC.
• Perform other similar or related duties as assigned by the City Manager.
