Public Works Maintenance Technician

The City of Sierra Madre is seeking a Public Works Maintenance Technician to maintain street rights-of-way and sanitary sewer system, including construction work in the general areas of sidewalks, curbs, gutters, water systems, sewer systems, streets and traffic signage maintenance. Performs right-of-way landscape maintenance, operates light power equipment, assists in the repair and the maintenance of tools and equipment.

Essential functions include trimming trees, mixing, pouring, laying, and finishing concrete, paving and repairing potholes, grading and leveling dirt streets, building and repairing walls, performing landscape care, removing mud, setting up meeting rooms, removing hazardous objects, painting signs and pavement, cleaning drainage systems, replacing sewer mains, responding to emergency call-outs, and placing traffic control barricades.

Qualifications include knowledge of construction trades, concrete forming, plumbing, landscaping, tree trimming, electrical work, and operation of heavy construction equipment. Ability to operate machinery, use tools, exert physical effort, and differentiate between textures, sounds, and forms. Physical and mental demands include standing, walking, lifting, using communication skills, and working in outside weather conditions.
