Position Description
Provides advanced veterinary technical skills with respect to the care, management, treatment, and documentation of care provided to animals used in the teaching and research program of the Texas Tech University School of Veterinary Medicine (TTU SVM). This job would involve instruction of veterinary students in clinical and professional skills laboratories involving multiple species including physical examination, surgical, medical, handling, and communication situations. Incumbent must be willing and able to follow-up on all animal health issues on a daily basis. This will at times require weekend and holiday care of sick animals. Adherence to robust safety practices and compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations are responsibilities of all employees.

About the Department and / or College
This position would aid TTU clinical faculty delivering instruction for the clinical year program at Texas Tech University School of Veterinary Medicine. The clinical year program is the 4th and final year of veterinary student instruction and is delivered in both on-campus and at off-campus partnering veterinary practices. This position will primarily assist faculty who are delivering instruction off-campus, at Amarillo Animal Management and Welfare, and our mobile CARES unit. The position will have responsibility of inventory management of ambulatory vehicles, and AAMW TTU SVM inventory at the practice. This person may also aid in daily instruction of veterinary students in veterinary work provided at the shelter including physical examination, diagnostics and medical treatments, anesthesia, and surgery. The technician would be based out of Amarillo and may accompany clinical faculty on the CARES unit, on an as needed basis.

Major / Essential Functions
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Five years of experience working with animals in a veterinary hospital. Fostering the Core Values of the School of Veterinary Medicine.
Preferred Qualifications
Seasoned veterinary technical experience in all aspects of small animal practice.
