Assistant Professor of Construction Management (CM) - WVU Tech (Beckley)

West Virginia University Institute of Technology (WVU Tech), part of the WVU system of campuses, located in Beckley, WV, is currently inviting applications for the following employment opportunity :

The Leonard C. Nelson School of Engineering seeks to hire an Assistant Professor of Construction Management (CM) with a preferred start on or near January 1, 2026 (for the spring 2026 semester). The intent is to begin the review of applications immediately and continue until the position is filled. This opportunity is a 9-month, tenure-track, full-time, and benefits-eligible position.

The successful candidate will develop and teach a variety of undergraduate level courses in CM. The successful candidate will also be expected to build a strong connection with the AEC (Architecture, Engineering and Construction) industries, pursue scholarly / research activities, and perform other services associated with a faculty position, including participation in recruiting and advising students. Furthermore, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in program assessment and accreditation processes.

WVU Tech is a regional division of the West Virginia University system. Located in Beckley, West Virginia, WVU Tech boasts a 12 : 1 student-to-faculty ratio and an average class size of 17 students, allowing personalized attention in a supportive environment. Qualifications

A doctoral degree in Construction Management or a closely related field (e.g., Construction Engineering) is required.

An All But Dissertation (ABD) candidate will be considered, with the expectation that the doctorate degree will be awarded within the first semester of employment (before July 2026).

Commitment to teaching excellence, responsiveness to student needs, and good communication skills are essential.

Interest in scholarship / research, service to the university and the profession, and developing relationships with the construction industry are also essential.

Relevant construction industry experience is desirable.

• Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) Building Systems
• Construction Estimating
• Construction Law and Contract Administration

• Heavy Construction Practice
• Soils, Foundations, and Concrete Mix Design and Testing
