Position Overview :
We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our growing construction accounting team. This role is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations and intercompany transactions across multiple subsidiaries , ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all financial processes. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with and support team members in daily accounting operations across multiple construction entities.
- Prepare, reconcile, and maintain general ledger accounts, bank statements, and credit card transactions.
- Support Work-In-Progress (WIP) schedule preparation and reporting.
- Oversee Accounts Receivable and Account Payable, including subcontractor payments.
- Assist with 1099-NEC and 1099-Misc fillings at year-end.
- Monitor and support the team on billing accuracy, collections, and resolving discrepancies.
- Coordinate with the Legal Department to ensure timely filing of lien notices, bond claims, and legal actions to protect the company’s collection rights.
- Maintain and monitor fixed asset and depreciation schedules.
- Monitor and ensure proper application, documentation, and remittance of sales tax on taxable transactions.
- Coordinate with Warehouse Team to record, count and reconcile the inventory discrepancies at month-end.
- Assist with annual audit preparations and provide required documentation.
- Collaborate closely with project managers and operations teams on financial matters.
- Implement and improve internal controls and accounting procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong knowledge of construction billing processes, lien and bond notice filings and job cost accountings.Familiarity with intercompany transactions and multi-entity consolidationsQualifications
Education : Bachelor’s degree in accounting or financeExperience : Minimum 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, construction industry experience strongly preferred.Technical Skills :o Solid understanding of GAAP and accounting best practices.
o Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; experience with Vista (Viewpoint) is a plus.
