The GTC OJT Trainer is responsible for creating an engaging and respectful learning experience, facilitating department-focused, machine-side technical / process training for new and existing IAF team members, objectively evaluating team members’ knowledge, skills, and abilities, and documenting the results.

A successful GTC OJT Trainer will assist in developing training procedures, objective evaluations that align with IAF business and customer needs, objectively evaluate team members’ abilities and skills to successfully conduct the job safely, according to quality policies and procedures. The GTC OJT Trainer will be able to safely and skillfully perform the required duties of the department that they are conducting the training for, meeting all safety, quality, and production standards, while reflecting our core values of TEAMWORK in our daily work.

A GTC Mfg1 OJT Trainer is mechanically skilled, knowledgeable, and capable of explaining and demonstrating safe work habits; proper, technical quality measurements in Mfg1, and machine setup and changeover techniques to produce excellent quality fasteners and prevent excessive tool damage / costs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include training team members on the following :

• Explain and exemplify the safety rules and processes, i.e. PPE, LOTO, PPRs, etc.
• Conduct safety tours, identifying potential hazards, including Stop 6, and the various safety features and practices to prevent potential accidents.
• Explain IAF’s quality policy and our many quality practices, i.e. QPAs, RPC, P2K, etc., explaining the importance of quality and our various quality practices for ensuring our customers’ safety.
• Explain the purpose of Kanbans and Lot ID tags and how they are used for quality and production.
• Demonstrate and instruct team members how to skillfully perform IAF’s quality practices, including how to read Kanbans and Lot ID tags, measure parts, perform Remaining Piece Check, and complete production documentation accurately.
• Demonstrate and instruct team members how to perform changeovers, machine adjustments, etc. according to procedure.
• Explain and demonstrate the S.T.O.P process.
• Explain the purpose of the different container colors.
• Explain and demonstrate the safe, proper ways to handle carts and containers.
• Explain the non-conformances, how to identify and prevent, and the proper response when a non-conformance is identified.
• Perform daily 4S+.
• Evaluate team members’ ability to perform the daily duties of the work being trained for, according to the KPI-aligned objectives.
• Provide skill-based coaching and constructive feedback to trainees.
• Complete all training documentation in a timely manner.
• Communicate training needs, concerns, gaps, etc. to the appropriate individuals.
• Cross-train into various training programs / phases.
• Other Duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and / or Experience

HS diploma or related Manufacturing experience equivalent to 1 year required. Skill level rating of B or higher. Meets or Exceeds all department Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

An IAF Team Member in Good standing, not on a disciplinary track or having any write-ups. Experience in training and development preferred.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals / documentation. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups. Computer programs, such as Microsoft Office Suite, are regularly used to communicate and gather information. Fluent in English. Japanese as a second language is helpful.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Desire to proactively and collaboratively work toward solutions with cross-functional team input.
