Overview
Leasing Counsel at Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield (URW). This role involves drafting and negotiating leases and related documents, advising on legal and business issues in leasing, and supporting the leasing teams to avoid disputes and ensure execution of lease documentation.
Responsibilities
- Draft and negotiate leases, letters of intent, subleases, amendments, assignments, temporary license agreements, and other related leasing documents.
- Assist the leasing teams in tenant lease negotiations. Identify and discuss legal and business issues and help resolve them in the best interest of the Company.
- Provide advice to the business to avoid legal disputes including landlord / tenant issues, tenant leases, and defaults.
- Participate in the development and interpretation of company operating policies and procedures.
- Provide guidance on legal aspects of leasing and other general real estate matters.
- Guide paralegals and coordinators to process lease documentation through execution.
- Provide general legal advice related to leasing matters as they arise.
Qualifications
Member of the California Bar in good standing.Strong academic credentials preferred.Experience with REITs and / or retail real estate companies preferred; big law firm and in-house experience preferred.7+ years of experience negotiating and drafting complex retail, office, and / or mixed-use lease documents, preferably in regional or flagship mixed-use retail development settings.Excellent reading, oral and written communication, analytical skills, negotiation skills, and attention to detail; well-organized and capable of managing multiple projects.Strong work ethic with a positive, proactive attitude; ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and to interact diplomatically with others.Ability to complete projects timely and accurately.Compensation
