Principal Director of Public Safety & Facilities
This position provides strategic leadership, oversight, and program management for Lake Superior College's facilities management, public safety, emergency management, Clery compliance efforts, serves as the Colleges Deputy Title IX Coordinator, and the environmental health and occupational safety programs. This position ensures a safe and secure campus environment through effective policy development, regulatory compliance, collaboration with internal stakeholders and external agencies, and all training related to safety and environmental issues within the college. The Director supervises departmental personnel and manages vendor relationships to support campus-wide safety initiatives. This role is critical to maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including the Clery Act, Homeland Security requirements, and all Fire Department safety requirements. This position plays a key role in the college's commitment to equity, inclusion, and community engagement.
The Director of Public Safety and Facilities is the institution's primary liaison with outside law enforcement and emergency personnel at the federal, state, and local levels. Due to the nature of this work, the person serving in this role is required to be on call and generally accessible to report to campus within a short time frame, unless prior arrangements have been made.
