Position Summary :

The Charlestown YMCA is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Basketball Coach to lead our youth basketball and Jr Celtics programs. This role involves coaching and refereeing for children aged 3-8. The ideal candidate will have experience working with young children and a solid understanding of basketball fundamentals. The coach will be responsible for both teaching basketball skills and facilitating games, creating an engaging and supportive environment for all participants.

Shifts :  Part Time, Friday 4 : 00pm-7 : 00pm (Some Saturday events)

Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities :

• Instruct and coach children on basketball fundamentals, including skills and drills.
• Referee games, ensuring fair play and adherence to the rules.
• Session Structure : Begin each session with a brief lesson on drills, followed by facilitating gameplay among participants.
• Adapt to a schedule that may change based on enrollment.
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and encouraging atmosphere.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants.
• Communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff.
