Job Description :
This position is based in the Transportation Management Center. This work consists of detecting unplanned incidents and being aware of planned incidents on the transportation network for the purpose of communicating this information for incident management and informing the public's safety and mobility decisions. Responsibilities include accurately communicating emergency and nonemergency information to public agencies, Maine DOT field personnel, and the public; dispatching the appropriate units when weather, safety, and traffic events occur; and determining traffic obstacles and necessary emergency responders. Work is performed under general supervision.

This position will initially work nights from 6PM-6AM with the following schedule per two-week period :
Monday / Tuesday - off
Wednesday / Thursday - on
Friday / Saturday / Sunday - off
Monday / Tuesday - on
Wednesday / Thursday - off
Friday / Saturday / Sunday - on
This amounts to 84 hr per pay period (8 hours overtime) The schedule allows for three day weekends every other weekend and opportunities for overtime.
To be minimally qualified for this position candidates must provide evidence of the following experience :
Education, training, and / or experience in radio dispatch communications, law enforcement, public safety, or transportation requiring the use of radio telecommunications equipment -OR- direct work experience involving a high level of public contact, customer service, or customer relations activities which required the use of radio telecommunications equipment.
