Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring a current NY RN license, BLS, NRP, and Epic experience.

Responsibilities

Work in a hospital Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) unit

Care for laboring mothers, postpartum patients, and newborns

Average of 50 births per month in an 8-room unit

Day shift schedule, working 3x12 hour shifts from 7 : 00 to 19 : 00

Every other weekend coverage required

Patient population includes neonates, infants, and adults

Uses Meditech and IntelliSpace Perinatal for documentation and Epic experience is required

Pyxis system used for medication management

Floating may be required

Responsibilities include assessment, care, and teaching for mothers and newborns throughout hospital stay

Perform newborn assessment and teach circumcision care to parents

Administer blood products, medications, and intravenous therapies

Provide discharge education and support to new parents

Must be comfortable with epidural anesthesia, pain management, and perinatal care

Isolation precautions and use of PPE are required

Scrubs are provided by the facility

Must not have worked at this facility within the past year

Return to work for previous staff allowed after a 1-year gap

Time off requests must be submitted at the time of application

Requirements

Active NY RN license in hand required for consideration

Current certifications : BLS and NRP

Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery experience required

Experience with Epic charting system required

Experience in LDRP, postpartum, and newborn care required

Must have skills in sterile vaginal exams, triage, diabetes and pre-eclampsia management, external fetal monitoring, and care for vaginal and cesarean deliveries

Unit does not accept first-time travelers

Candidates must live more than 75 miles from the facility
