Futaba North America provides management support to its automotive parts production companies in North America. We are looking for an entry level Simultaneous Engineer to perform simultaneous engineering activities for our automotive parts manufacturing facilities in North America. This is a computer intensive position with a heavy focus on 3-D drawing and design work. The Simultaneous Engineer is a headquarters role located in Bloomingdale, IL. Major responsibilities are as follows :

  • Work with simultaneous die engineers, design studios, manufacturing engineers, and program management to provide manufacturing driven product input.
  • Process new product designs for early manufacturing feasibility studies.
  • Identify engineering problems, secure relevant information, and recommend solutions.
  • Provide manufacturing input and engineering criteria on styling and product engineering. Propose changes to shape and design and confirm with designer.
  • Discuss design change requests (DCRs) with customers and suppliers.
  • Keep Futaba North America Group up-to-date with all design changes and issues.
  • Develop preliminary die face layouts and run formability analysis.
  • Coordinate Make-or-Buy discussions to improve workflow and track potential communication issues.
  • Manage projects, design schedules, and negotiate any changes with customers and suppliers.
  • Convert files from one 3-D program to another.
  • Propose solutions for manufacturing related issues and support manufacturing systems integration engineers in various reviews and requests.
  • Maintain communications with manager and quality team on progress, issues, delays, and other pertinent information.
  • Performed other projects and duties as assigned.
  • Up to 25% travel is required.

Requirements :

The ideal candidate will have 3-D drawing and design experience. Experience in the automotive parts industry is a plus. Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering (CAD / CAE), or automotive engineering is required. Experience with CATIA 3-D Software is preferred. MonoPro experience is a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft office products is required. Ability to interface and collaborate with others is essential.

The salary range is $70,000 - $80,000 per year depending on knowledge, skills, and abilities.
