Position Summary :

The Certified Nursing Assistant / Clinical Secretary at Tidelands Health plays a dual role, performing both clerical duties and providing direct patient care services. This position is essential in ensuring smooth operations on the nursing unit by managing communications, assisting patients, and supporting the healthcare team under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Essential Functions :

Perform clerical duties on a nursing unit including answering the telephone and relaying messages.

Act as a receptionist, receiving and directing visitors and ambulatory patients.

Provide direct patient care services as assigned by the Clinical Director.

Assist with patient needs and support the healthcare team.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education :

• High School graduate required with the successful completion of Medical Terminology course and a passing score on the examination. May substitute 2 years previous specific work experience with medical terminology for the Medical Terminology course certification. (Example : HIM Tech, Paralegal, Medical Biller, Medical Secretary, Patient Access Representative)

• High School graduate required with the completion of approved course of study for Nursing Assistant training or successful completion of fundamentals semester of Nursing school preferred.

Licensure / Certification :

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certificate required.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required to be initially completed with the TH Organizational Development Office within 30 calendar days of hire date (exceptions to obtain certification from a provider other than the TH Organizational Development Office are approved by TH Organizational development on a case-by-case basis). BLS Recertification is required every two years.

Works with patients, families, physicians, and other health care providers.

Basic computer and typing skills.

Ability to communicate effectively and clearly

Basic math skills

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently (activity or condition exists from 1 / 3 to 2 / 3 of the time) required to stand, sit, and walk; occasionally (activity or condition exists up to 1 / 3 of the time) to use hands, fingers; and frequently to talk or hear. The employee must exert 20 to 35 pounds of force occasionally , and / or 10 to 15 pounds of force frequently , and / or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
