Overview

Senior Java / Web Developer (Contract) — 100% Contract position for 1 year with the possibility of extension or conversion to career status. Extended Deadline : Fri 10 / 31 / 2025.

Location : Hybrid worksite; Appointment Type : Contract; Appointment Percent : 100%; Union : Uncovered; Total Openings : 1; Work Schedule : 8 hrs / day.

POSITION OVERVIEW :

The Application Development & Integration Services (ADIS) team provides enterprise solutions for the UC San Diego community. We strive to deliver quality and reliable services that help our campus achieve administrative goals. Our team builds, integrates, hosts, and delivers enterprise services for the campus and with other UC campuses. We also offer custom integration and application development, business analysis, and data management services for various departments.

You will be a technical leader and integral team member, applying advanced software and database concepts to large-scale projects. You will work with the Telecom Management Systems (TMS) suite of web applications and services, front-end frameworks, databases, APIs, and SDLC processes.

Responsibilities

  • Research, design, develop, and maintain existing and new services
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, process owners, and ITS colleagues to define and execute strategically-aligned project plans
  • Resolve highly complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires in-depth evaluation of variable factors, and selecting tools, methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to obtain results

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • Highly advanced skills in software specification, design, modification, deployment of large-scale software across multiple environments and platforms : Linux, Cloud, RESTful and SOAP services
  • Knowledge to implement authentication / authorization methods; experience with Test-Driven Development on complex projects; familiarity with JavaEE, Spring MVC, JPA / Hibernate, JTA, JMS, Apache, Tomcat, ESB, WSO2; familiarity with build, package, and release processes
  • Demonstrated experience with Maven archetypes, Subversion, Bamboo, and Git
  • Strong problem-solving skills to investigate and diagnose application issues including security, business logic, database, performance, and deployments
  • Advanced database knowledge and design concepts (tables, data types, stored procedures, views, security); ability to write complex queries and manage database changes and deployments with respect to application lifecycle
  • Advanced knowledge of secure software development
  • SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Employee must be available to work evenings and weekends
  • Employee must be available to travel as required

    Pay Transparency Act

    Annual Full Pay Range : $97,200 - $182,000 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

    Hourly Equivalent : $46.55 - $87.16
