Position description
The Division of Continuing Education (DCE) is a self-supporting unit within the University of California. Funding is generated through fees collected from a diverse, complex, and ever-changing student population. Part-time instructor positions are on a course by course contracted basis. This is NOT a faculty position.
Online teaching positions are now available in the Facilities Management Program. We are seeking qualified applicants possessing current knowledge and / or teaching experience in the topics of Energy Management and Principles of Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning.
Specific Instructor Duties
Our curriculum is constantly updated and tailored to bring students the background, expertise, and business practices to remain competitive and advance their careers. Taught by qualified practitioners, our courses feature practical applications, underlying rationale, and current issues, all of which can be immediately utilized in and applied to our students' work environments.
Part-time, temporary assignments are on an as-needed basis. This is an ONGOING recruitment. We accept part-time instructor applications all year long; when the division has a need to fill, we refer to the "pool" of applications on file. We are looking specifically for instructors who are qualified to teach the following course(s) as early as the Spring quarter, beginning March 2025.
Course Description : Energy Management for Facilities Managers
Today's successful facility managers are multi-dimensional professionals with a broad array of skills that are critical to the success of any organization. One of these critical must have skill is the effective management of facility energy cost and consumption. More and more companies today are learning that clean energy and efficient use of utility resources are not only integral to corporate environmental sustainability but are also a must to keep corporate operating cost down to stay competitive in today's era of lean budgets. This course will provide the foundational knowledge and fundamental skills that every Facility Manager needs to be a well-rounded professional and make an immediate impact in a company's quest towards achieving a sustainable and cost-effective energy program.
At the end of this course, students will be able to :
Course Description : Principles of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning
Facilities managers play a pivotal role in overseeing the seamless operations of diverse facility functions, frequently confronting recurring challenges related to air conditioning systems. The course, designed to provide facilities professionals with a strong foundation in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) principles, extends its benefits to anyone involved in supervisory or managerial roles within a facilities management organization, as well as those operating in environments where technical, professional, or trade personnel are actively engaged. The course includes an analysis of typical HVAC systems and the types of equipment commonly encountered in commercial or industrial buildings.
