job_description.job_card.job_descriptionWork in a hospital-based Medical Surgical Unit with 21 beds and a discharge-ready focus Patient population includes primarily behavioral and long-term care cases with some requiring IV antibiotics Unit operates under a nursing home model emphasizing fall prevention, skin integrity, and socialization activities Team nursing approach with RN ratios up to 1 : 9 and strong CNA and care management support Night shift schedule from 7P-7A working 12-hour shifts Weekend rotation required every other weekend, no on-call responsibilities Floating required to any area within scope of practice as needed Uses Cerner EMR, Alaris, and Pyxis Responsibilities include medication administration, dressing changes, straight catheterizations, and documentation per shift Support staff includes CNAs, charge nurse, activities coordinator, social worker, case manager, phlebotomist, RT, and PT / OT / ST Orientation includes 2 days of hospital orientation plus 1 shift on unit First-time travelers are welcome to apply Professional scrubs of any color allowed; no acrylic nails or croc shoes permitted Holiday coverage assigned as needed Free parking is available in designated areas Active ME or compact RN license required Current BLS certification is mandatory At least 1 year of recent Med / Surg Tele or related specialty experience required Experience with geriatric, behavioral, SNF, or LTACH patient populations strongly preferred Charge experience, wound care, IV antibiotic administration, and enteral feeding skills required Must not have previously worked in a permanent capacity at any Northern Light Health Hospital Permanent address must be 100+ miles south or southwest of the Bangor facility for consideration Flu vaccination required with medical exemptions reviewed by approval committee High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts
