Associate Inspector

The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) is the nation's largest public housing authority, with an operating budget of $3.3 billion and over 11,000 employees who manage and maintain 311 developments that house about 400,000 residents. NYCHA also operates the country's largest Section 8 program, which provides rental assistance to about 200,000 additional people. Reporting to the Assistant Director, the Associate Inspector's responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following :

• Supervise and review the work of field Inspectors (Housing) to assure enforcement of Maintenance Code and compliance with HPDs' rules and regulations.
• Coordinate with fellow Abatement Inspectors, and Lead Hazard Inspectors to ensure smooth interface and project communication between Lead Hazard Control Units.
• Perform day-to-day project management and notify the Deputy Director when / if issues arise that require Senior Management intervention.
• Provide technical consultation regarding lead apartment inspections.
• Ensure proper work orders into Maximo database.
• Perform other related tasks and provide support to Senior Management as requested.

Qualifications :

1. Six years of full-time experience performing one or a combination of the following, one year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity :

Qualification Requirements (continued) : All candidates must have at least one year of supervisory experience described in "1" above. Six months of non-supervisory experience will be credited for each year of apprenticeship in the building trades up to a maximum of two years of non-supervisory experience. License Requirement : A motor vehicle driver license valid in the State of New York. This license must be maintained for the duration of employment.
