Love Columbia is a local nonprofit dedicated to supporting individuals and families in need by connecting them with resources, services, and community support. As a Love Columbia Assistant, you will contribute to this mission by helping both in the main office and at The Love Seat, Love Columbia's resale store. This position offers hands-on experience in community service, nonprofit operations, and retail support while also building transferable skills for your future career.
Please note : This is an off-campus work-study opportunity. Stephens College and LOVE Columbia do not provide transportation-you must be able to provide your own.
Key Responsibilities : At Love Columbia's Main Office :
- Greet and assist visitors in the lobby with kindness and professionalism.
- Support clients with completing forms (primarily for social services benefits).
- Assist with office tasks, updating the online information library, or conducting research related to nonprofit programs.
- Help with setup and support for classes and events.
- Supervise children in the playroom while parents meet with staff.
- Assist with gardening, landscaping, and upkeep of the office environment.
- Organize the Essentials Closet and maintain information displays.
At The Love Seat (Resale Store) :
Sort, organize, and display donated merchandise (clothing, housewares, furniture).Assist with general upkeep and organization of the retail space.Help prepare household boxes for delivery to families through the furniture bank.Support marketing efforts for resale and nonprofit activities.Requirements :
Friendly and compassionate, with a desire to support community members.Dependable, adaptable, and able to maintain confidentiality.Comfortable assisting in both office and retail settings.Must have reliable transportation to and from Love Columbia locations.Career Readiness Competencies Developed in this Role :
