Patient Transporter 1
The Patient Transporter 1 transports patients, patients belongings, medical records, hospital equipment safely, and in a kind, courteous, and timely manner via wheelchairs, stretchers, beds, and carts.
Essential Functions Of The Role :
- Safely transports patients and their belongings, medical records, charts, and equipment to various areas.
- Maintains friendly, efficient, positive customer service attitude toward customers, clients and co-workers.
- Safely moves patients with traction, IVs, drainage apparatus, oxygen and other encumbrances.
- Provides emergency assistance to patients who become ill during transport process until proper staff can be notified and assistance arrives.
- Verifies the proper patient identity by visually checking patient identification or verifying with nursing staff.
- When transporting a cardiac-monitored patient, RN will accompany patient unless patient meets criteria for nurse driven removal of Cardiac monitoring for Inpatient Transport. Stays with patient unless a licensed nurse takes over monitoring; watches for changes in patterns; calls for help when needed.
- Notifies dispatcher of status of assigned duties and proceeds as instructed.
- Champions overall safety in the department. Reports possible safety issues and recommends appropriate changes. Complies with OSHA, and other local, state, and federal regulations.
- Dresses in designated uniform and adheres to proper hygiene when reporting to work and performing job duties.
- Transports bodies to the morgue and ensures that proper documentation is completed.

Qualifications :
Education - H.S. Diploma / GED EquivalentExperience - Less than 1 Year of ExperienceCertification / License / Registration - Basic Life Support (BLS) : BLS or BLS within 30 Days of Hire or transfer.
