Controller

Are you a hands-on accounting leader with a passion for building strong teams, streamlining processes, and driving financial excellence? Our client is seeking a Controller to lead their accounting operations and play a key role in supporting a fast-growing eCommerce and online retail business . This is a direct hire, on-site role reporting to the Chief Financial Officer.

What You'll Do

Oversee and manage all aspects of accounting operations, including monthly close, financial reporting, reconciliations, and compliance with GAAP.

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 5 accounting professionals, balancing workloads and driving a collaborative, high-performance culture.

Ensure accurate and timely sales and use tax filings and other required business registrations.

Partner with external auditors and provide timely, accurate financial data for annual audits.

Collaborate cross-functionally to improve efficiency through process enhancements, automation, and stronger reporting capabilities.

Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organization to support sound financial decision-making.

Assist the CFO with strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, and risk management initiatives.

Serve as a trusted partner on corporate financial decisions while ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.

What We're Looking For

Education : Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA strongly preferred.

Experience : 10+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience in eCommerce or online retail is REQUIRED .

Hands-on leadership style with proven ability to build, coach, and inspire high-performing teams.

Strong experience with sales and use tax compliance and financial systems (Sage experience preferred).

Track record of driving process improvements and automation to increase efficiency and accuracy.

Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence and partner across all levels of the organization.
