We are seeking Kirghiz (also known as Kyrgyz) Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Kirghiz, a Turkic language spoken in Kyrgyzstan and across Central Asia, is a rare but high-priority language often required in asylum, refugee, and immigration cases.
Responsibilities
Provide real-time Kirghiz (Kyrgyz) English telephonic interpretation for USCIS officers, applicants, and stakeholders.Interpret accurately, impartially, and professionally in immigration and asylum contexts.Maintain confidentiality in line with USCIS / DHS interpreter ethics and standards.Handle both scheduled assignments and urgent / surge interpretation requests.Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and quality assurance reviews.Qualifications
Native or near-native fluency in Kirghiz (Kyrgyz) and English.2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, legal, asylum, NGO, or government preferred).Knowledge of interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and cultural awareness.Strong communication skills; ability to remain accurate under pressure.Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3 / Tier 5 federal clearance.Compensation & Benefits
