About The Position

Requirements  Our search is now for request to full-time with variable call weekly and weekends.

Need to have experience with atrial vein harvesting- VERY IMPORTANT.

Penn State does not accept IMLC

All overtime MUST be approved by department admin

No guaranteed hours

Callback is patient facing hours

Lunch is not included, please have provider clock in and out for lunch (ex. 7a-12p; 1p-5p)

This PA will provide cardiac thoracic services to a community hospital and corresponding clinic.

Need someone with efficient surgical skills for CVOR and vascular surgery. Must be independent with endoscopic and vessel harvesting including radial.

CABG EVH and open vessel harvesting, TAVR, TACR, Vascular surgery, ECMO - Surgeries and Procedures Required

Assists with patient positioning, skin prep and draping. Assist the surgeon in the surgical procedure, including but not limited to the following; provides wound exposure, closure and dressing application, handles tissue appropriately, uses and manipulates surgical instruments, assists in controlling blood loss, sutures tissue, sponging, retraction, use of suction, cauterize, cut suture, handle instruments on tissue, tie suture, apply surgical dressing, wound vac, minor debridement’s, operate complex surgical equipment, such as lasers, robots, sterilizers, diag equipment.

Independently makes surgical incisions and closure to perform endoscopic or open vessel harvesting by bypass conduit, arterial and venous line insertion. Independently makes surgical incisions to include the administration of local anesthetic. Rotate call coverage for invasive and surgical procedures.

Assists with invasive procedures as described above, and as directed by surgeon, in Cath Lab and at bedside.

Performs therapeutic procedures as directed by the surgeon, including but not limited to the following : wound care, venipuncture, venous cutdowns, insertion and use of central venous pressure lines, intubation, bladder catheterization, insertion and removal chest tubes, suturing, thoracentesis, cardiac resuscitation and defib, ECG Interpretation.

Assist the surgeon in preoperative care and workup of patients. Confirm operating schedule, availability of blood and summarize appropriate data prior to surgery.

Participate in postoperative care of patients. Inform the surgeon of all pertinent changes in the patient’s condition, assess the patient’s postoperative course and implement indicated therapy as determined by the cardiovascular and thoracic surgical service protocol.
