Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

An elementary school is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year to support students in grades K-5. This contract position focuses on providing tailored educational experiences for students with life skills needs and those with severe or multiple cognitive disabilities. Working collaboratively in a supportive environment, you will make a profound impact on the academic and personal growth of your students.

Responsibilities :

  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for a caseload of 12 students with diverse learning needs, including life skills and severe cognitive disabilities.
  • Collaborate effectively with a team of 7 educational technicians (paraprofessionals) to deliver specialized instruction and support within the classroom.
  • Monitor student progress, adjust teaching strategies as needed, and maintain detailed documentation to ensure pliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that promotes student engagement, independence, and social development.
  • Partner with families, administration, and other education professionals to enhance student outes.

Qualifications :

  • Valid Maine Special Education certification 282 or an out-of-state reciprocal equivalent.
  • Experience working with elementary-aged children, particularly those with life skills and severe cognitive disabilities, is highly preferred.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to lead and coordinate support staff.
  • Excellent munication and collaboration skills.

    Contract Duration : August 25, 2025 June 10, 2026

    Schedule : Monday to Friday, 8 : 15 AM 3 : 30 PM
