We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and responsible Process Engineer to lead the execution of small capital projects and drive continual improvement initiatives at a manufacturing site. This role is pivotal in advancing operational excellence, optimizing processes, and delivering measurable improvements in safety, quality, and efficiency. The successful candidate will leverage deep technical expertise, data-driven insights, and collaborative leadership to solve complex challenges and influence cross-functional teams.
Duties and Responsibilities
Lead the design, optimization, and implementation of recovery processes for nickel, cobalt, lithium, and other materials from Li-Ion batteriesDevelop and execute small capital projects from concept through commissioning, ensuring alignment with site objectives and best practicesChampion continuous improvement initiatives, utilizing LEAN, Six Sigma, and other methodologies to enhance process reliability, safety, and performanceProvide technical leadership in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution of process issuesCollaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Commercial, and HSE teams to ensure seamless integration of new technologies and products, and compliance with regulatory standardsSupport Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) programs, including Process Safety Management (PSM) and EPA Risk Management Plan (RMP) requirementsFacilitate Management of Change (MOC), incident investigations, and corrective action implementationAssist in the development of standard operating procedures (SOP), commissioning protocols, and maintenance plans for new equipmentCreate and monitor operational KPI dashboards to identify and drive improvement opportunitiesMentor and develop junior engineers and cross-functional team membersRepresent the site in customer-facing discussions regarding technical requirements and new product introductionsAll other duties as assignedQualifications
Minimum 5 years of engineering experienceMinimum 3 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment, leading projects and improvement initiativesDemonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams and delivering results in a fast-paced environmentExperience in working with Li-Ion battery processes is highly desirableExceptional written and verbal communication skillsStrong analytical, problem-solving, and project management abilitiesHigh level of accountability, resourcefulness, personal drive, and resiliencyEDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical, or Electrical EngineeringLEAN / Six Sigma certification preferred but not requiredTRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
