Animal Emergency & Specialty Center of Knoxville is hiring part-time weekend support for our growing Internal Medicine department . Whether you're currently working in general practice or seeking advanced training in critical care, this role offers a unique chance to deepen your skills and make a meaningful impact.

📍 Animal Emergency & Specialty Center of Knoxville – Knoxville, TN

💼 Part-Time | Specialty & Emergency Veterinary Hospital | Internal Medicine Team

🌙 Weekend shifts only – day or overnight options available

  • Part-time weekend availability required

Day and overnight shifts available

  • Every weekend OR every other weekend
  • Includes holiday support on a rotating basis
  • Opportunity to work up to 30 hours per week

    🩺 Key Responsibilities

    Patient Care & Technical Skills

  • Monitor and manage ICU patients overnight
  • Perform advanced procedures : IV catheter placement, blood draws, radiographs, anesthesia monitoring
  • Assist with internal medicine diagnostics (ultrasound, endoscopy, blood transfusions)
  • Provide post-procedure and critical care monitoring
  • Administer oral, injectable, IV, IM, and SQ medications
  • Support emergency stabilization and triage procedures
  • Client Communication

  • Update pet owners with patient status overnight
  • Educate clients on treatment plans, home care, and next steps
  • Team Collaboration

  • Partner with Internal Medicine and ER teams for continuity of care
  • Participate in case rounds and share critical patient insights
  • Record Keeping

  • Maintain detailed, accurate patient records and logs
  • Document lab results, treatments, and patient progress
  • Facility Maintenance

  • Keep ICU and treatment areas clean, organized, and fully stocked
  • ✅ What We’re Looking For :

    2–3 years of veterinary experience in clinical or hospital settings

  • Strong technical skills in anesthesia, radiology, or emergency procedures
  • Comfortable working independently, especially on overnight shifts
  • Excellent communication skills and a strong patient-first mindset
  • Team player who thrives in high-pressure environments
  • Physically capable of standing, walking, lifting, and restraining animals
  • LVT, RVT, or CVT credentials (preferred, not required)
  • Prior exposure to ICU , Internal Medicine , or Emergency care
  • Familiarity with specialty diagnostics or critical care protocols
