Position Summary
The Quality Assurance Lead ensures that all food safety policies and quality standards are met within the food manufacturing facility. This role supports daily production by monitoring compliance with GMP, HACCP, and regulatory guidelines, while also leading QA technicians and coordinating with auditors, customers, and regulatory agencies. The QA Lead reports directly to the Quality Assurance Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Support production and supervisory teams to ensure compliance with GMP and HACCP programs.
Conduct on-floor inspections, audits, and quality checks to verify adherence to FDA, SQF, and internal standards.
Oversee food safety and quality training, including onboarding and annual sessions for QA Technicians.
Maintain and verify HACCP records, implement corrective actions, and update SOPs and product specifications as required.
Collect and send microbiological and chemical samples for lab testing; verify compliance of test results.
Ensure all supplier documentation and raw material records meet company and regulatory requirements.
Conduct routine factory and warehouse audits, including daily pre-operational inspections.
Investigate and document non-conformances, implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs), and ensure timely resolution.
Participate in customer complaint investigations and documentation review.
Perform trend analysis on quality and safety data and present findings to management.
Collaborate with Sanitation, Maintenance, and Production teams to ensure corrective actions are completed and verified.
Assist in maintaining and updating Safety Culture programs and documentation.
Partner with and act as backup SQF Practitioner as needed.
Qualifications
Post-secondary education in Food Science, Chemistry, Public Health, Biology, or a related field (preferred).
Strong knowledge of food safety standards, GMP, and HACCP systems.
Prior leadership or supervisory experience in a food processing or manufacturing environment.
Excellent communication, organization, and attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
Proficient with Microsoft Office and other computer-based systems.
HACCP certification or equivalent experience strongly preferred.
