American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring NE or compact licensure and competency in circulating OR procedures.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Position is in a Level 1 trauma, acute care Labor & Delivery unit16 labor rooms, 9 antepartum rooms, 3 OR suites for C-sections, 7-bed triage, and 36 postpartum bedsHandles high-risk OB and routine obstetric patients with up to 400 births per monthPatient ratios follow AWHONN guidelines : 1 : 1-2 for labor, 1 : 2-3 for antepartumRNs are responsible for titrating medications such as Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and pain medicationsUnit uses Epic for EMR and Obix for electronic fetal monitoringNight shifts (12 hours); required to work every third weekend, may be up to every other weekend as neededRequired to float to Postpartum; occasional float as a 'sitter' elsewhere throughout the hospitalMajor and minor holiday coverage requiredCharge nurse present on both shifts; 2 OBTs and 24 / 7 CRNA, resident, and attending MD supportWill occasionally float to postpartum unit and provide care to both mothers and infantsRNs must be able to circulate in OR for C-sections and perform normal newborn and routine baby careTeam-oriented environment with 2-3 shifts of unit-specific orientation providedSurgical scrubs are provided and requiredRTO requests must be submitted upfront with no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; additional time off is not approvedPreference for candidates demonstrating flexibility, teamwork, and a willingness to learn\n \n Requirements\n
Active NE or compact state RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not acceptedMinimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience requiredCurrent certifications : BLS, NRP, and Intro to Fetal MonitoringCompetency in OR circulation for C-section procedures is requiredProficiency in normal newborn assessments and routine infant care requiredAbility to titrate Pitocin, Magnesium, and pain medications as per protocolsEpic experience preferredMust live at least 50 miles from the facility; driver's license will be used to verify addressCannot be currently or recently (within the past year) employed full time, part time, or PRN by any CommonSpirit facility, including CHI or DignityFingernail policy prohibits artificial nails for direct patient care\n Benefits\n
