Tenure Track Faculty, Film and Media Arts
The Department of Creative Arts at Cuyahoga Community College is seeking a full-time tenure track faculty member to teach Film and Media Arts sequence courses.
Responsibilities include :
- Preparing and delivering lectures and hands-on studio instruction to students on various topics in relation to Film and Media Arts
- Evaluating and grading students’ class work, laboratory / studio work, assignments, papers, and films
- Preparing course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts
- Keeping abreast of developments in the field by reading current literature, speaking with colleagues, participating in professional conferences, productions, and film-related activities, and learning new equipment, tools, and technologies, workflow, and software as appropriate to the field of study
- Maintaining student attendance records, grades, and other required records
- Initiating, facilitating, and moderating classroom discussions and hands-on training
- Advising students on academic and vocational curricula and on career issues as needed
- Planning, evaluating, and revising curricula, course content, and course materials and methods of instruction
- Compiling, administering, and grading examinations
- Collaborating with colleagues to address teaching and research issues
- Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours to advise and assist students
- Selecting and obtaining materials and supplies such as textbooks and laboratory / studio equipment
- Serving on academic or administrative committees that deal with institutional policies, department matters, and academic issues
- Participating in campus and community events
Required qualifications include :
Master's Degree in a Film and Media Arts-related field5 years of recent professional experience in a preproduction / post-production filmmaking and / or media arts capacity with a strong diverse portfolio representing a professional level of media production and / or post-productionDemonstrated experience and familiarity with a range of aspects of Film and Media Arts, including producing, planning, scheduling, scouting, camera operation / cinematography, lighting / grip / gaffer, sound recording and design, supervising or executing associated motion graphics, animation, and delivery formatsDemonstrated proficiency in editing, post-production workflow, and media-managementDemonstrated experience in writing / scripting for Film and Media ArtsFamiliarity with contemporary and emerging production environments, set operations, and set etiquetteInterest and knowledge in continued study of emerging tools and technologiesAdvanced-level expertise in one or more of the above-mentioned aspects of Film and Media ArtsTeaching experienceKnowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching, and instruction for studentsAdvanced communication (verbal, written, and interpersonal) and organizational skillsLogic and reasoning skills to identify solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problemsSensitivity to appropriately respond to the needs of students and the communityPreferred qualifications include college-level teaching experience in a production-based technical area of Film and Media Arts, affiliation with related professional organizations, and proficiency in the use of discipline-specific hardware, software, studio operations, tools, and technologies.
The target hiring rate / salary is $57,589 with a B.A. plus 30 semester hours (45 quarter credits) or M.A. degree.
