Description : Pay Range : $28-$30
The CNC machinist produces machined parts by setting up and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies; working with calipers and thread gauges.
Essential Job Functions
- Plans machining by studying work orders, drawings, materials, specifications, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
- Configure mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.
- Loads machine with work pieces using overhead crane or forklift.
- Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample work pieces
- Maintains specifications by observing operations and managing traceability; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; editing programs; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
- Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
- Meets production goals in terms of cycle time, quantity, and quality.
- Maintains safe operations by keeping work properly cleaned and within 5S standards and by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
- Operates overhead cranes and must be able to drive forklift safely and efficiently.
- Maintains equipment by completing basic preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; initiating repair work orders.
- Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
- Documents actions by completing required paper and / or electronic logs.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities in the progression track; reading technical publications.
- Participate in required meetings and training.
- Other duties as assigned

Educational and Experience Requirements
High School Diploma or GEDA minimum of 4 years of machining experienceForklift certified preferredExperience in operating lifting devices such as jib or overhead cranes a plusWork Environment / Physical Demands
Willing and able to raise and transport articles weighing up to 50 pounds.Willing and able to walk, stand, stoop, sit and carry material on a daily basis on even and uneven terrain.Willing and able to stand for long periods of time.Willing and able to work outside in harsh weather conditions to retrieve material and / or in manufacturing / warehouse environment with varying temperatures.Willing to work alone a high percentage of the time.Wear personal protective equipment (PPE).Willing and able to work unscheduled overtime.Willing to work in a manufacturing environment where noise levels can be high (hearing protection available).
